hot here in Salt Lake City. 33 degrees.... hopefully it won't get too much hotter as we go south.. but it seems possible. yikes!
Surprisingly scenic drive here.. over large passes, up to about 7000 ft and I think more.. Past Bear Lake.. BIG.. and along side Salt creek for quite some time.. someone must have got bored, as for miles, every road sign had been hit with what must have been a shotgun loaded with quite large shot!. couldn't help but notice that not all that far behind some of the signs was the odd farm house!
We know Martin will be very iterested to hear that today, we had a change in roadkill.. and we have a new acronym.. USA.. figure that out.. all sorts of possibilities.. Unuasually Slow Animal... or Unidentied Squished Animal... howabout.. Unaturally Slim Animal.... of course Unidentified Small Animal has to be a starter... any way we had our first Unalive Spiky Animal.. or porcupine if you can't figure that out! actually there were a couple.. and I even attempted a photo.. but not so good.. deer were back on the asphalt today, and quite a number of racoons.. ok.. nuff rk news!
No sign yet of any salt lake here.. actually the hills are quite close to the city, and if the smog cleared a wee bit, I'm sure the view would be nice.. We rocketed in here at about 80mph on the interstate.. great way to get places.. can see where the phrase "theres been a pile up on the interstate" came from, as the following distances are not much and if someone breaked hard, it would be scary!
For all the plane buffs and ATCers.. the airport here is flat out.. runways in all directions, aircraft stacked up on finals, and takeoff side by side.. busy spot.
Miles to date.. 3117.6 and I've no idea on the gas/miles but the van doesn't seem tooo thirsty. Fuel ranges from $US3.20 to $2.55 /US gallon.. so mostly well under $/ltr.
Almost forgot to mention..
Had our first camp fire last night.. collected wood from around the area, and lit it with our gas cooker.. very pretty,,
Read the camp rules before leaving this am.. "No collecting wood for fires" was about rule number 27a!! ooopss.. the bats seemed to enjoy the light attracting the bugs.
